for the

31st ANNUAL BLACK HAWK FOLK FESTIVAL

A big THANK YOU to all who made the
30th ANNUAL BLACK HAWK FOLK FESTIVAL a success!

This year's festival was enjoyed by young and old alike!

The 2017 performers included:
----------------------------------------------------

Tom Pease ~ The Berrymans
Small Potatoes ~ A Rose Among Thorns
Mean Mary ~ Patchouli

Bill Kehl was our energetic MC

10:30 am Open Mic. The open mic entertainers ranged in age from 16 to 70-plus! It was a great way to get a day full of music started!
12:00 pm Tom Pease opened this festival with a lot of energy! He had folks singing along, learning sign language and showing their belly buttons! Always a pleasure to have Tom join us!
1:10 pm Lou and Peter Berryman made us laugh so hard we cried with their stories and linguistic genius! It's no wonder they put on such a great show, they have been performing together since high school!
2:20 pm Small Potatoes wowed us with their tight harmonies and polished musicianship. Jacquie and Rich shared their award-winning songs that they describe as "Celtic to Cowboy" with a very appreciative Black Hawk audience!
3:30 pm A Rose Among Thorns brought some old tunes to life with a combination of harmonies, solid bass rhythms, and lively guitar, mandolin, banjo and fiddle solos! This group had everyone singing along.
4:40 pm Mean Mary delighted us with her soulful voice, fast banjo pickin', flyin' fiddle licks, and two-footed percussion accompaniment! Her award-winning songs, along with her top-notch stage presence, really blew us away! Mary even had us dancing a conga line before she bid us farewell!
5:50 pm Patchouli, a Black Hawk Folk Society favorite, was the 2017 headliner. Julie's soothing vocals and percussive guitar style along with Bruce's blended harmonies and exceptional flat-picking treated this Black Hawk crowd to some true world-class music! Their energy was contagious and a perfect close to the 30th annual Black Hawk Folk Festival.
